Gray Hawk (Asturina nitida)

Gray Hawks are local breeders in lowland riparian cooridors, rare in winter. Typically Gray Hawks can be found in season around Arivaca, along the Santa Cruz (south of Amado) and San Pedro Rivers, and along Sonoita Creek (particularly at the Patagonia-Sonoita Cr Nature Conservancy Preserve). In the late summer, immatures and adults can be found wandering away from breeding areas, such as the pecan groves near Green Valley, and the lower portions of Florida and Madera Canyons.
